Fiction. Literature. HTML:Includes the story "The Man in the Black Suit"—set in the fictional town of Castle Rock, Maine

From #1 New York Times bestselling author Stephen King, the iconic, spine-tingling story collection that includes winners of an O. Henry Prize and other awards, and "Riding the Bullet," which attracted over half a million online readers and became the most famous short story of the decade, as well as stories first published in The New Yorker, "1408," made into a movie starring John Cusack.
"Riding the Bullet" is the story of Alan Parker, who's hitchhiking to see his dying mother but takes the wrong ride, farther than he ever intended. In "Lunch at the Gotham Café," a sparring couple's contentious lunch turns very, very bloody when the maître d' gets out of sorts. "1408," the audio story in print for the first time, is about a successful writer whose specialty is "Ten Nights in Ten Haunted Graveyards," or "Ten Nights in Ten Haunted Houses," and though Room 1408 at the Dolphin Hotel doesn't kill him, he won't be writing about ghosts anymore. And in "That Feeling, You Can Only Say What It Is in French," terror is déjà vu at 16,000 feet.

Whether writing about encounters with the dead, the near dead, or about the mundane dreads of life, from quitting smoking to yard sales, Stephen King is at the top of his form in the fourteen "brilliantly creepy" (USA TODAY) tales assembled in Everything's Eventual. Intense, eerie, and instantly compelling, they announce the stunningly fertile imagination of perhaps the greatest storyteller of our time.

Stories include:
-Autopsy Room Four
-The Man in the Black Suit
-All That You Love Will Be Carried Away
-The Death of Jack Hamilton
-In the Deathroom
-The Little Sisters of Eluria
-Everything's Eventual
-L.T.'s Theory of Pets
-The Road Virus Heads North
-Lunch at the Gotham Café
-That Feeling, You Can Only Say What It Is in French

This book is a collection of fourteen short stories. Mr. King has included a brief history and his thoughts on each. The first story, Autopsy Room Four, is a spine-tingler. Second, The Man In the Black Suit is a scary tale of the devil, up close and personal. Third, All That You Love Will Be Carried Away is a weird night with a suicidal man and his odd collection of one-liners. The fourth story, The Death of Jack Hamilton, was made into a movie. I haven't seen it, but this story about John Dillinger on the run didn't impress me. Fifth, In The Deathroom, was an action-packed story right out of a spy novel with quirky characters and was unexpected but not bad. Sixth—and one of my favorites—The Little Sisters of Eluria, features Roland Deschain, the gunslinger from The Tower series. It was outstanding. If you haven't read the Tower series, please do. It's fantastic, and this short story that was "pre-series" was super good.

Seventh, Everything's Eventual is mind-bending and thought-provoking. The eighth story, L. T.'s theory of Pets, is hilarious and more about marriage than pets. The Road Virus Heads North was spine-chilling and brought to mind that old saying: "Every picture tells a story." The tenth story, Lunch at The Gotham Café, was another story about the perils of marriage. Eleventh, That Feeling…, was about Deja vu. 1408, although scary, the movie with John Cusack was even better (or worse, depending on how you look at it). Riding the Bullet was very good. I think it's also been made into a film, but I haven't seen it. The story is pretty eerie and reminds us that death awaits everyone. The last story, Lucky Quarter, is about a cleaning lady at a hotel who gets a quarter tip, which she decides to drop into a slot machine. You can probably imagine what happens there. All-in-all, an excellent collection to keep you up at night. ( )

Some very good short stories in here, except I don't care for the Dark Tower series- only one from that in here. ( )
