My mentor took me to his office and a wall of books and told me to "pick one" after finding out I was a reader. I browsed and carefully chose this. It was my first introduction into the world of Seventh Day Adventism. Doug has led a fascinating life. He was from a millionaire family. His mom cooked pot-brownies for him and his brother. He had all he could want. He left it. For a cave, which just happened to contain a Bible. One story I fondly remember is how Doug cut up something out of his wallet to form small sqares and sold it to a guy for LSD. The guy later reported "tripping balls". Another great part of the book is where Doug and co. trip balls on a powerfull concotion on the mountain. Some don't make it back off. A time portal opens, Doug sees battles and armies of the past. He ends up in jail in the town below and "sees" things for several days afterwards. This is the story of a young caveman who came to be the bald fellow you see on tv Sunday mornings. Well worth a read at least to hear about how Doug went from living a life of crime, to living in a cave, to becoming a pastor, but the writing is pretty amateur. ( )
