... I know some here did not care for it, but I enjoyed it and finished it off in a day. Today I am about halfway through Notes from a Small Island by Bill Bryson. This is my first book of his and I am pleasantly suprised at how funny he is.
I've liked all of the books Bill Bryson has read himself. He's got good pacing and a wry tone in appropriate places.

Absolutely A Short History of Nearly Everything is not the best place to start when first trying Bryson. Notes from a Small Island is much much better, humourous and totally sums up the UK :)

I also enjoyed Notes from a Small Island and several others. I read it rather than listened. He is quite the curmudgeon. I did listen to A short history of nearly everything and it actually worked well as audio.

Brilliant! I love Bill Bryson. Although my favorite is Notes from a Small Island ; I wish they had done a FS edition of that instead of The Lost Continent (although all of his books are very good).
