Very interesting re-imagining of Judge Dredd's universe. We are presented with Mega City One (aka Megatropolis), city that seems to be coming from the pages of magazines, imaginings of future that was signature of 1920's/1930's, with magnificent skyscrapers, wonderful city skylines, fantastic flying machines (very very steampunky) but again populated with the same level of corruption and crime as in original Judge Dredd world. To be aligned with dystopian world of Judge Dredd, everything is very dark, it seems like Sun never comes up here. This helps to keep the gloom-and-doom vibe of the story.

Police force is also mixed story - honest police workers present but majority of force basically running around the city as muscle for hire, working more with gangsters than law-enforcers (very LA Confidential-like).

So when mysterious vigilante shows up that spares not a single soul mixed with crime it will create a turmoil that will shake very foundations of power but also allow for some of the law-fighters to gain a better vantage point for their future actions.

Good story, with great art. I gotta say they better have book 2 ready in very short time :)
