Not a bad book. Liberals will never understand Bush because they don't understand Christianity, in fact, most of them hate it. Bush's faith drives him, and that drives his enemies nuts. He thought God wanted him to be President, and that means he must be nuts. Right? No. Like I said, God is as foreign to liberals as tax cutting is. This book serves as a biography with religion as its focus, charting Bush's spiritual evolution from childhood to the Presidency. Mansfield cites his sources, and writes fairly well. This book is pretty good, and it is essential to understand Bush's Christianity to understand his drive to protect America and fight Islamic terrorism. ( )

Although this was probably written to boost the candidate's image with voters prior to the 2004 elections, many parts of this bio are worth the read in understanding who President Bush is and how he thinks. Stephen Mansfield has build a reputation for quality and integrity in his writing that lends credibility to this particular topic. Worth the read. ( )

In this spiritual biography of our 43rd president, Stephen Mansfield gives us a comprehensive look at how George W. Bush looks to his faith in God to help him be a better leader, as well as man, husband, and father This wasn’t always the case.

To help the reader gain perspective on the development of the president’s faith, the book traces Bush’s history all the way from his Texas boyhood through his playboy years after Yale. It then examines his spiritual journey including the influences of his parents and wife Laura (who introduced him to the Methodist church), and his encounters with evangelists Arthur Blessitt and Reverend Billy Graham.

I highly recommend this book. Clearly, Bush’s love for and faith in God is an asset to his presidency and life. Irrespective of your political bend, I hope you will take pride in and be inspired by knowing the leader of our country now credits God for all he has, and seeks God in all he does.
