It kept me smiling most of the way through, even though there was danger and difficulties throughout this story. Glynna Greer came out west as a mail-order bride with her two children and fell into a bad situation and abusive husband. Her husband is now dead and she is determined to make it on her own by taking over the only diner in Broken Wheel. The problem is, she can't cook worth anything. But the men all show up just to look at a pretty face. Doctor Dare Riker is the doctor in town and it seems someone is out to get him. Dare can't seem to let his guard down for one minute and his friends (who stick closer than a brother) are out to help him find out who is behind the sinister attacks on his life. Meanwhile Dare is trying to make a good impression on Glynna and win her heart, even though her son wants him to "back off". I loved how all 3 of these stories are centered around the men that "stick closer than a brother". They are all good men who are facing difficult situations and in the midst of those difficulties are pursuing women who have quite strong personalties. The banter back and forth and just the way these characters interact with one another keeps me turning the pages with pure enjoyment. Anxious to start book 3, "Stuck Together" next. Yawn! I admit it. I stayed up way too late last night. But I have a good excuse. I was nearing the end of a great book and I was so Fired Up to finish it I couldn’t even think about sleep. And a little exhaustion today is a small price to pay. In true Connealy fashion, Fired Up began with action from the beginning and never let up, except for the moments of laughter that turn up at the most unexpected moments. Fired Up is the perfect sequel to Swept Away and now I’m glued to my computer watching for Stuck Together’s Release Date. Dare Riker, the gifted doctor who isn’t a doctor at all, and Glynna Greer, the cook who can’t make anything edible are beautifully constructed characters, all idiosyncrasies intact. You’ll love both of them from the beginning and cheer for them to love each other despite all the obstacles in their paths. The suspense element, better known as ‘who-dun-it’ is incredible in this book. I had to stop myself several times from peeking ahead. A sullen teenager, a pouting ex-sheriff or a crazy knife wielding potato chopper? Could be anybody. And who will doctor the doctor should the would-be harm-doer be successful? And yet the suspense does not take away from the sweetness of the romance, or the feud brewing between Vince and Tina – or was that attraction? Fans of Mary Connealy will love Fired Up. If you’ve not read Mary’s books before, this one will make you a fan – and oh what joys await you! Grab a copy of Fired up and fall in love with Dare and Glynna. Cowboys galore, laughs aplenty, stolen kisses drama and mystery. Mary Connealy has done it again. I received this book from bookfun.org for my honest opinion and review. This is not a time travel book, but I took another enjoyable Time Travel trip into 1868 Texas where it seems trouble is always brewing. This is the second novel in the Trouble in Texas series following the novel Swept Up, both by Mary Connealy. I did read the first one, but I do not think it necessary as the incidents in the first book are not only alluded to but briefly explained so that those that have read the first book are reminded of the happenings there while those that have not read it are brought up to speed in a seamless manner. The characters of the first book are very much present in this one, what with the men being a part of the Regulators. Cowboys and rustlers abound, but the story is also one of romantic comedy, which Mary does extremely well. She uses words to her advantage, and the imagery is so vivid you can almost smell the smoke, hear the clatter of the horses hooves, feel the sand in your eyes and see the fear in Janey's eyes. I enjoyed this one very much, as I do all of Mary's novels, and will be looking for the 'gang's' next adventures. I received this book free from Amy at Litfuse Publicity Group and Bethany House Publishers in exchange for an honest review. A positive critique was not required. The opinions are my own. I really enjoy reading books by Mary Connealy and this one is no exception. Fired up tells the story of Glynna and how she is determined to make it on her own as well as take care of her children. Dare is the town doctor who has helped Glynna out, but seems to find trouble of his own. It is a great read and I want to thank Bethany House for providing me a copy to read. sem resenhas | adicionar uma resenha
