The next book in the sequence - but it took some 15 years to be published, with Steve and Sharon writing lots of short stories in the meantime. Those stories inform this book and those written after it, making them even richer. Val Con and Miri make it out and to her family (little though she wants to believe in them). The thing with the sleeplearner was interesting - Miri again being pushed to believe in herself. Erob's reaction to her, as well. The talk with Jase is highly amusing - neither of them boast on themselves, but on each other? Oh yeah. And then all plans are thrown completely awry as the Yxstrang come in. Interesting events ensue - the Yxstrang would probably be infuriated to know how unimportant they are in the story, though. Beautiful, and Shan arriving (and Witches Hall); the various infiltrations, the final raid, and the results for both Val Con and Miri. And again the story reaches a good stopping place as the cavalry arrive… ( )Miri and Val Con are heading back to civilized space - actually, to a Liaden outworld where Miri's Liaden relatives live. They arrive in time to find a planet in upheaval. Meanwhile Shan and the Dutiful Passage and Nova and as many space mercenaries as she can fit in her spaceships are barreling toward Lytaxin to help in the conflict. A great series full of action, adventure, and romance. This is the third book in a series of books that are set one after the other. Reading these out of sequence can be troublesome. I suggest starting with Conflict of Honors or the Partners in Necessity omnibus, both of which are still available on amazon. Ace canceled the reprint of this book. Depending on the condition and edition of the book, you are looking at a minimum of $15-20 to pick up this title used. An example of a publisher failing to take advantage of supply and demand . . . This is not a series with stand alone books, you have to start in the beginning and progress. This book just jumps in and starts where Carpe Diem left off. We're at the start of the war in earnest between the Clan Korval and previously unknown enemies. Things start to tie together and finally Val and Miri get back into the thick of the Liaden worlds. I like this book, but it's definitely a bridge between Partners in Necessity and I Dare. I love this series, it has everything you could want from a space opera and more. Some once described it as Jane Austen in space, but I find it more deadly than that - more like Renaissance Italy in space, lots of machinations and maneouverings and with some love and laughter to leaven the plot. Highly recommended series. A keeper and frequent reread plan B opens with Miri and Val Con in space and headed to the planet Lytaxin. They've put the word out to Val Con's clan to rendezvous there. There is also an invading force of alien warriors that is converging right along with them. plan B is full of widescale destruction, ironic humor and justified paranoia. It will have you ride a wave of human emotions as you are caught up in the story. I did not know this was book six of the Liaden universe. But if you haven't read the other books, like myself, you won't have too much trouble following the events of plan B, I may have missed some subtly points by not having a background to pull from. But I still found it a very entertaining read and could not put it down. Sample Chapters: http://webscriptions.net/chapters/158... sem resenhas | adicionar uma resenha
Amazon.com (ISBN 0441010539, Paperback)How can a series with terrific character development, witty dialogue, and high adventure fail? Lee, Miller, and dedicated fans refused to believe it could, and after 10 years, the Liaden Universe has returned from book limbo! If you can find them, look for other books in the series: Partners in Necessity, an omnibus of the first three novels, another omnibus containing two prequels, and the fifth book, I Dare. But feel free to start here: Plan B stands alone, though previous books provide rich back-story.Meet Val Con yos'Phelium of Clan Korval. Val Con was once an "agent of change": recruited by Liad's Department of Interior (DOI) and redesigned--his memories blocked, his emotions suppressed--into a precision killing device. Val Con's sanity was saved by his lifemate, Miri Robertson. She's a half-Terran former mercenary sergeant even shorter than Val Con, and almost as deadly in combat. Miri also has Liaden dramliza (wizard) blood from her mother's family, Clan Erob. In Liaden society, one's melant'i (roughly: reputation, or face) is preserved by appropriate speech and behavior, including honor duels when a Balance is owed. Miri is nervous but Val Con says: "'Together, cha'trez, we are--' he bent his head, put his mouth next to her ear and breathed '--hell on wheels.'" DOI has plotted to destroy Korval; Korval now invokes Plan B: retreat strategically, trust no one, prepare for all-out war. Val Con and Miri are trapped by an invasion force of the militaristic Yxtrang as they await Val Con's foster siblings, who are arming the clan. And of course their adopted Clutch brothers, Edger and Sheather, who resemble giant turtles, are also on their way. Somewhat more slowly. Can everybody stay alive long enough to reunite? If you love Lois McMaster Bujold's Miles Vorkosigan books, visit Liad. This is space opera at its best. --Nona Vero (retirado da Amazon Fri, 24 Apr 2009 07:58:24 -0400) O primeiro ciclo de testes foi encerrado.
