I can't even put my finger on what I didn't like about it. I just had a much easier time putting it down that I did some of his other novels. As an old-school ghost story in a modern setting, it does its job quite marvelously, and as a slowly-closing net of interlocking mysteries (What was his wife not telling him, and why? What happened to Sara? And what the hell is this town's problem, anyway?) it impresses me with each new reading. Much as Insomnia did, I think this book is going to settle in even more deeply with me over time. It may seem to roll impossibly slowly on first reading, but it rewards patience.
