Has anyone read The Host? What did you think? I liked it much better than Twilight, but I' wonder if that is an age issue. I loved the Host!.......definitely not better than Twilight! I'm still waiting for it from the library, there is a long wait list. I loved all of the twilight books so I really hope to enjoy The Host. I'll keep you updated. I Have The Host But I Havent Read It Yet Im Going to read it over the summer atm i havent got an interest in it Mar 29, 2009, 2:22am (topo)Message 5: All.Time.Lunatic.xXsame.. i kinda want to read it but there are other books that i would rather read :) Mar 29, 2009, 12:13pm (topo)Message 6: ibetonalice2I loved The Host. It starts out really slow, but closer to the end it gets really, really good :) Mar 29, 2009, 11:10pm (topo)Message 7: Muse_Freak1312Still waiting for the library to get to my request for it. *sigh* I agree with Alice. It was a bit weird in the beginning but it's AWESOME :D Definitely not better than Twilight but it's still a good read. And Stephenie Meyer said it will probably be a trilogy, with the next called The Soul and the third called The Seeker. WOOT :) Can't wait. Mar 30, 2009, 10:02pm (topo)Message 9: ibetonalice2I know.. I'm excited too :) Abr 1, 2009, 11:21pm (topo)Message 10: MrsGrinchI heard Stephenie is coming out with a series about Ghosts! Can't wait for that!!!! Abr 2, 2009, 3:46am (topo)Message 11: All.Time.Lunatic.xX8: hahaha WOOT?! gosh your a strange one! :) Abr 2, 2009, 10:10pm (topo)Message 12: G.A.B.E10: I heard that it was a book, not a series but - meh :) 11: WOOT :D is awesome. Don't forget the seriously happy face ":D". Alright? GOSH! :) Abr 2, 2009, 10:11pm (topo)Message 13: All.Time.Lunatic.xXhaha okie dokie fair enough! :) haha you're right next to me!! haha i wonder why Ashley (sitting across from me) asked what we were on.. creepy lol i was like umm librarything.. Abr 2, 2009, 10:26pm (topo)Message 14: G.A.B.E^ She wants in on our awesome cyber cult :D Abr 2, 2009, 10:47pm (topo)Message 15: All.Time.Lunatic.xXyeah.. fully lol nah Abr 3, 2009, 11:08pm (topo)Message 16: mmd4im trying to read it but im completly confuzzeld and im getting sick of reading the first 3 chapters over and over again cause im completly lost on the host Abr 4, 2009, 1:26am (topo)Message 17: Hermee6 and 16: It was a struggle for me to get through the first half, but then it got really, really good so I'm eagerly awaiting book two. As much as I loved it though, I like the Twilight series more. 10: Can't wait also! Abr 4, 2009, 11:56pm (topo)Message 18: G.A.B.EHeaps of people are saying The Host is confusing but I didn't find it confusing at all!? I thought it made sense. Abr 6, 2009, 1:37pm (topo)Message 19: HermeeI think I found parts confusing in the first half, but can't remember now. Would need to re-read it to be sure. Abr 7, 2009, 7:52pm (topo)Message 20: ibetonalice2It was confusing at first, but I slowly picked up what was going on. Abr 8, 2009, 8:00am (topo)Message 21: All.Time.Lunatic.xXI think i'm going to read it. :) Abr 8, 2009, 8:24am (topo)Message 22: ravenblueI find Stephenie Meyer likes to describe ALOT in detail and in the Host she describes mega! So I found it to be a bit of a hard slog to get through. HOWEVER, I think this is Stephenie's magic...you know so much about the characters in detail that they become so real and when you finish reading one of her books you can't stop thinking about the characters. Does anyone else feel the same way??? Abr 8, 2009, 2:27pm (topo)Message 23: ibetonalice2Si senorita :) (or atleast I think you're a girl.) Abr 8, 2009, 9:24pm (topo)Message 24: All.Time.Lunatic.xXhaha! what if it wasn't! that would be very funky! :) Abr 8, 2009, 9:34pm (topo)Message 25: G.A.B.EI like books that have really good descriptions :) Abr 8, 2009, 9:45pm (topo)Message 26: All.Time.Lunatic.xXYes, very very good Abr 9, 2009, 8:31am (topo)Message 27: ravenblueYes people, I'm a girl so Si senorita away! I guess it depends on what the person is describing whether it holds my attention eg in Twilight I hated reading about in detail what Bella was cooking for her father and in the Host when the Soul was constantly describing the winding caves everytime she went down one. I've also noticed Stephenie Meyer likes to use "chargrin" alot. Every character has "chargrin" at one time or another. But like I mentioned before, after reading Host/Twilight I felt like I was really there because I knew so much detail so when each book finished I felt like I was loosing my best friend...does that make sense? I love books that leave a little presence with me. So to Stephenie Meyer, don't stop describing and keep on chargrinnnnnnninng. Abr 9, 2009, 1:47pm (topo)Message 28: yaakovI agree, Stephanie Meyer writes much more about the characters and their inner thoughts and feelings (especially compared to most books about alien parasites......). The Host was a very emotional book. Abr 10, 2009, 3:24am (topo)Message 29: G.A.B.EI noticed about "chargrin". It was a little annoying but - meh. And yes, SMeyer has said that "she writes for her characters". Which I thought was really cool, mostly authors just write b/c they got an idea about a story and just have the characters to act it out, whereas, the characters (in Twilight) are the story. If that makes any sense (?) Abr 10, 2009, 5:00am (topo)Message 30: ravenbluethat makes total sense. you're right, it is the characters themselves that make the book and how they react in certain situations. can't wait for Stephenies next project... Abr 10, 2009, 11:16pm (topo)Message 31: All.Time.Lunatic.xXI don't like in Eclipse when they go waaayy into detail about the Quilette(sp?) legends and also Jaspers life, it's too long! But pretty intersesting i guess. :) Abr 10, 2009, 11:35pm (topo)Message 32: G.A.B.E30: Me neither! :D 31: I just didn't really like Eclipse and I have NO idea why .. it had plenty of action, lots of drama between Edward-Bella-Jacob and other stuff but I just don't like it! I don't DISlike it but I don't love it like I do with Twilight & New Moon. Weird. Abr 11, 2009, 1:26am (topo)Message 33: All.Time.Lunatic.xXMy favourite is New Moon and my favourite part is when Edward leaves!? I have no idea why! I think because it's like dramatic and sad without being tacky like Days of our lives sort of drama. Abr 11, 2009, 2:33am (topo)Message 34: G.A.B.E^ Agreed :) About the last part, I mean. I don't really have a favourite part. Hmm, maybe the prom scene in Twilight :) Abr 11, 2009, 2:40am (topo)Message 35: ibetonalice2My favorite is New Moon also. I just finished re-reading for the 4th time about an hour ago. I like the Volturi scene and when Bella and Jacob hang out before they find out the he is a werewolf.. Abr 12, 2009, 12:31am (topo)Message 36: G.A.B.EYeah, at first I HATED New Moon so badly but then I re-read it and I was like, "I LOVE THIS BOOK!" I just finished re-reading it for the fifth time two days ago! Me and Leah are gonna re-read it just before the movie comes out and then after :) My fav scenes in all the books have to be: Twilight: Prom scene New Moon: Volturi scene & when Bella thinks about how she never meant to love Edward but now that she did, she couldn't live without him etc.. Eclipse: Bella & Jacob scene in the second to last chapter, always makes me cry! Breaking Dawn: Wedding, Isle Esme & when Jacob imprints on Renesmee. :) Abr 12, 2009, 12:53am (topo)Message 37: ibetonalice2Twilight: The chapter titled "The Cullens" New Moon: The Volturi scene and Jacob and Bella in the garage. Eclipse: When Rosalie, Jasper, and Alice share their stories. Also, the graduation party. Breaking Dawn: Wedding, Jacobs POV, and just the entire third part of the book. Abr 12, 2009, 12:59am (topo)Message 38: G.A.B.EI loved Jasper's story! Especially about the part when he met Alice. A really nice quote by him is on my background: "She was there - expecting me, naturally. I was not sure if she meant to attack. That's the only interpretation of her behaviour that my past had to offer. But she was smiling. And the emotions that were emanating from her were like nothing I had ever felt before." I was just like, "AWWWWW" when I read that :D Abr 12, 2009, 1:04am (topo)Message 39: ibetonalice2"And you ducked your head, like a good southern gentleman, and said, 'I'm sorry, ma'am.'" I almost melted! Abr 12, 2009, 1:10am (topo)Message 40: G.A.B.EAWWWWWWWWW :D That is beyond romantic! Jasper is the sweetest! :) Abr 12, 2009, 1:16am (topo)Message 41: ibetonalice2Agreed :) Abr 12, 2009, 1:17am (topo)Message 42: G.A.B.ECHICKENS! :D Abr 12, 2009, 1:19am (topo)Message 43: ibetonalice2PIGS! Btw..I have baby piggies :) Abr 12, 2009, 1:33am (topo)Message 44: G.A.B.EAwww! I think pigs are cute, even though they are muddy and stuff. And plus, I'm born in the year of the pig :) Abr 12, 2009, 2:16pm (topo)Message 45: ibetonalice2I'm a cock lol. And my pigs are never muddy. They live inside our barn. Abr 12, 2009, 3:09pm (topo)Message 46: kara1560It's funny how fast it went from: how sweet jasper is (I concur) to how cute little piggies are (I also concur) ;).. Abr 12, 2009, 9:51pm (topo)Message 47: G.A.B.E45: Do you live on a farm? Alot of my extended family live on farmland/wineyard in the country. It's a really beautiful place and all the people are so friendly :) 46: LOL :) Alot of the conversations on here are really random :D Abr 13, 2009, 2:18pm (topo)Message 48: kara156047> I concur ;) (if you have not noticed, concur is my new word of the week ;) Abr 13, 2009, 4:11pm (topo)Message 49: ibetonalice2Lol, Nicky and I love that word. And no, I live in a neighborhood, but my family owns farmland and I do some of the work. Abr 13, 2009, 7:07pm (topo)Message 50: G.A.B.E48: Yup, that is definitely a favourite word of Alice and mine but you can borrow it :D 49: I wish I could help on my family's farm! But they live too far away :( Abr 13, 2009, 7:14pm (topo)Message 51: ibetonalice2Guess what I named one of my show pigs.. Adelaide :) And I was thinking about you when I was driving home from Wal*Mart lol. I was thinking that maybe I could get my parents to give me a trip to Australia for my graduation gift 2 years from now and I could come see you and maybe stay with you. I would come during one of your holiday breaks. That would be too cool :) Abr 13, 2009, 7:23pm (topo)Message 52: G.A.B.EThat would be so awesome! I'd show you all around and we could have one BIG, ENDLESS sleepover :) SQQQUUUUE! I actually had a dream where I met you at the airport, it was so cool and then I woke up and I was like, "Dammit!" :D And Wal*Mart - LOL :) I love Wal-Mart. Abr 13, 2009, 7:23pm (topo)Message 53: bombardalicious239- OMG! I Love that part! Pigs are sooo cute! I saw some baby piggies at the zoo, and one was sleeping in it's food. It was so cute! Abr 13, 2009, 7:25pm (topo)Message 54: G.A.B.EAWWWWW! :D Piggies is a cute word to say. Piggie, piggie, piggie, piggie, piggie, piggie. @Alice - and for my graduation present after that, I could ask for a trip to come see you! :) Abr 13, 2009, 7:28pm (topo)Message 55: ibetonalice2Haha.. Yes and we would eat a whole bunch of fast food and get really fat :) This is going to be awesome :) Abr 13, 2009, 7:31pm (topo)Message 56: G.A.B.EIt wouldn't matter if we got fat together! :D I have Hungry Jack's (like Burger King), KFC and MacDonald's just down the road from me :) And I live about 20-25 minutes from the beach so we could go down there all the time and they have the BEST icecream in waffle cones .. OME, yum, especially the boysenberry icecream .. YUM! :D Australia in summer is awesome but it sucks in winter :) Abr 13, 2009, 7:33pm (topo)Message 57: ibetonalice2Ohio sucks all the time lol. Abr 13, 2009, 7:36pm (topo)Message 58: bombardalicious2Lol! It's supposed to be 66 here on Friday, and on Saturday like 26! It's crazy. Abr 13, 2009, 7:38pm (topo)Message 59: ibetonalice2It's going to be 70 this weekend. Then on Tuesday it's going to snow. UGH! Abr 13, 2009, 7:39pm (topo)Message 60: bombardalicious2IKR! But obviously, it's not :) I've seen snow a couple of times but it was only a little in Seattle. I went outside for like two minutes and touched it. It was powdery and weird-feeling, not how I expected snow to feel. It was sad :( It SHATTERED MY DREAMS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Abr 13, 2009, 7:44pm (topo)Message 62: bombardalicious2I see snow like all the time. It get's boring after a while, but it's pretty at night when it's really dark and the whiteness fills the sky. Abr 13, 2009, 7:49pm (topo)Message 63: G.A.B.EI can see that in my head. It does look pretty :) Abr 13, 2009, 7:49pm (topo)Message 64: bombardalicious2It is. :) Abr 13, 2009, 7:55pm (topo)Message 65: ibetonalice2And then it gets all dirty and wet and gross :P Abr 13, 2009, 7:58pm (topo)Message 66: bombardalicious2Yup Abr 14, 2009, 1:47am (topo)Message 67: G.A.B.EYeah, snow on mud doesn't look too good. :) Abr 18, 2009, 11:16pm (topo)Message 68: Muse_Freak1312Message 45: I have just come back from my aunty's farm up at Mannum thats why i havent been on for ages and it was so cool.Although they called me city slicker a million times. Nov 4, 2009, 11:26pm (topo)Message 97: jordantwifani think that the host is scary but i have not read it and i do not plan to twilight is better! I just finished the host and it was good. that's about it. It was not better than any of the twilight series but it was entertaining. It did start out slow but it was very good throughout the middle of the story. The end was a bit predictable but ok. I was hesitant to read this as well but I'm glad I did. I can't wait to see what else she comes out with.
