Treasure Hunts

It's been quite some time since the last treasure hunt. Has LibraryThing stopped doing these?

To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.

There were four each of the past two years, but none yet this year.

They’ve been busy.

When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.

(>1 indeedox: I don't know why there's no info about this year's treasure hunts.)

They've onboarded two new staffers and the person who previously wrangled the hunts no longer works for LT. Combine those facts with the push to get LT 2.0 done and dusted, and I'm not surprised there may not be as many hunts this year. I love the hunts, don't get me wrong, but I'd rather have the full re-do of LT first.

Isn't talk like a pirate coming up soon? I saw that on another website (Ravelry.com). They can't abandon that one!

For some of us, every day is Talk Like A Pirate Day.

I'll be honest. I liked it better when the hunts were so random, you had no idea they were coming. It was just a "Oh hey, something unique and fun to do." When they became predictable, they lost some of their charm. (I still do them, mind you.)

Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition hunt.

Why not? There are plenty of other themes they can use.

Not even doing the Talk Like a Pirate hunt without a specific reason provided to members would be like a town deciding not to hold its annual festival without notifying residents or like a business not planning for its usual holiday party while employees are planning around the date on their calendars. Careless dismissal of tradition upsets people.

But September is still several months away.

Do you think other people (LT members?) could set up a Treasure Hunt? Not that I am volunteering… :-)
Do you think anyone would be interested in doing that?

LT members have contributed clues in past treasure hunts
