Just noticed that you have Voss. Have you read it? There is a Voss Journey on this weekend in Canberra run by the National Film and Sound Archives, to celebrate some overdue anniversaries. Makes me feel I should read Voss one day ;-)
I'm also reading from the 1001 list, have you seen the LT group?

An old favorite of mine is Chronicles of Tao by Deng Ming-Dao. Kim Stanley Robinson has an interesting take on Eastern spirituality in his Years of Rice and Salt, and actually also includes a good bit of Buddhism in his global warming trilogy (beginning with Forty Signs of Rain). Also, check out Roger Zelazny's Lord of Light, it's hysterical.
