Sobre mimBeen a bookworm since I came out of the womb..I have to be reading just about 24/7 (while eating, taking a bath, etc)..The only genre I'm not crazy about is romance. I'm 29, a college graduate, and in management for one of the big supercenters..What I REALLY want to do is write my own stuff (if I only knew where to start) and start an animal sanctuary..
Sobre a minha bibliotecawhy buy bookshelves when you can just buy more books? ;)
My dream is to someday have a huge library, preferably two-story, or at least floor-to-ceiling with my own rolling ladder..I LOVE the biblioporn on here! Great ideas--too bad it's champagne dreams on beer money!

The man who had asked the question could not believe what he saw. He thought the mystic was mad. The shouting soon brought a crowd of people. "Why are you doing that?" the man asked. "I came to you to ask a spiritual question because I thought you were wise, but obviously you're crazy. You are holding the pillar, the pillar is not holding you. You can simply let go."
The mystic let go of the pillar and said to the man, "If you can understand that, you have your answer. Your chains of attachment are not holding you, you are holding them. You can simply let go."

My books are scattered on a dozen towering bookcases in my apartment and in boxes filling my parents' attic, until I can put them in a permanent library. I dream on one day having one of those huge libraries with the spiral staircases leading up to the second level.
What'd you get from Amazon? It's been awhile since I had enough cash flow to buy a bunch of books at once. I haven't gotten my tax refund yet, but I'm sure much of it will end up in a cash drawer at a bookstore.
Please send any recommendations my way. I love hearing about good books others have read. I'll compare our libraries as well and see if I can come up with some for you.
Talk to you soon!!!

I'm really looking forward to reading The Looking Glass Wars. There were a few times that I almost bought it's sequel without having yet read book one. I guess I've put off reading it only because I never read The Looking Glass as a child and have wondered if I should read that first. What do you suppose?
I'm very glad I read Twilight and Inkheart. The Twilight series is absolutely wonderful, and while I've only read the first book in the series for the other book, i'm sure it's series must be good, too. You should give these books a try. On Bookmooch, I mooched many books from people that were the first in different series and am finding all sorts of series that I enjoy. I can't wait to read all the rest of the series to them!
I'm sad to hear Fforde's new book is being pushed back. I wonder why they're doing that. I guess we'll simply have to only have rereads of his books this year. Do you have a favorite book by him?
Thanks. My weekend was great - lots of reading time. Hope yours was great, too! :)

I'm also glad you liked the Dexter novel. I'm looking forward to the next one (I HOPE there's a third one). Did you see the series on HBO? I watched the first three, which was based (rather closely, with only two exceptions of note) on Darkly Dreaming Dexter, and thought it was good. I don't get HBO, though, and am not much one for TV anyway, so I didn't see the rest of the series, but if it continued to be as faithful to the book as the first three episodes, it was worth watching.

These personal collection pages are great! Just like visiting thousands of little indie bookstores without leaving your PC.

I'm a librarian at a local business college, but I get most of my reading list from the public library. My apartment can't really hold anymore book shelves.
I finished the baby-sitter's club books (Kristy's Great Idea and The Truth About Stacey) and they were both fun to read, and surprisingly from what I remember stayed close to the spirit of the original.
Happy reading..

I hadn't realized we were both in Louisiana, and Lafayette's not too far from where I usually live (Sulphur)! All the books I've picked for my 50 (except for 5) are ones I already own, so hopefully I can make a sizeable dent in my TBRs!
About GWtW...I hate Scarlett O'Hara. Hate, hate, hate her. Her behavior throughout the book drove me to distraction, but I won't go into detail since you haven't read it yet.
I read about you wanting to start an animal sanctuary, my parents are thinking of doing something similar when they retire (from the army) back to Louisiana, and helping raise endangered animals. Small world!
Back to the drudgery of college life!
