Intersting links:
There is an insteresting project going on: the idea is to add to LibraryThing the personal libraries of dead luminaries and famous authors. It all started with member LolaWalser, who entered the library of poet Danilo Kiš (1935-1989). Jefferson and John Adams have also been proposed and are in "work in progress". Check out these links: "Cataloging other people's libraries?" (on TALK), "How many books do you share with Thomas Jefferson?" (a Thingology Blog) and "I See Dead People's Books" Group.

Hmm, yes it's not good at preserving entities like ∓ - if I have anything that I'm likely to want to edit I keep a copy in a plain text file on my computer, then I can edit that and paste it back into LT when I need to. Bob

You need something to force the next few empty lines. Nothing 'conventional' is still allowed. Try repeating <br /> once for each empty line. Bob

Oh, too much of a rush, your example had a couple of covers so I left them both in. Delete the last four lines then add enough empty lines to push the next paragraph below the image. The 'clear:both' should do it but I haven't found a way to have it work properly.

Fiddly but this more or less seems to work. You may have to pad with extra line breaks to get it to look tidy.

Thanks for the reference to my profile on your page.
That stats counter looks interesting - I'll investigate.
Because of the HTML I've got on my profile, I need to store it as a document, and load it again every time I change my profile, so beware if you try and do fancy stuff.

w3schools.com is an excellent resource for all things web they have both reference materials and tutorials. I'd also recommend downloading an html editor like NVU (free from nvu.org) and just playing around a bit, it has a drag an drop wysiwyg interface (IIRC) and you can flip tabs to see the source code.

Yes, technically it's possible, but not from a LibrayThing profile, and not with a simple link. You'd have to add in a bit of JavaScript I think and I know that's banned from LT. There are many write-ups on teh web, here's one I found through Google http://www.javascripter.net/faq/openinga...
Good luck

add the attribute target="_blank" inside the <a . . . /> tags and that should have the link open in a new window.

Sorry, looks like Tim has shut down the code on the profile page. It was always tighter than the Talk pages but a few months ago someone 'complained' about it being too open and Tim made both much tighter. But he never(?) posts exactly what's allowed, and I can't be bothered to repeat all the experiments I ran first time around.
Yes, you can make the box narrower, easiest is probably to add width:100px; or width:20%; to the style statements (pick your own width by trial & error probably).

<div style="border:1px solid silver;padding:6px;">some text . . .</div>
Basically it's just a little style statement. The 'border:' bit gives the width, style & color and the 'padding:' bit leaves a margin around the text.
