I am an author too, of a book about celebrating Christmas, and am happy to meet you.

I just finished reading the first three books in the Temeraire series and wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed them. I'm a Patrick O'Brian fan, for the characterization and historical flavor not the nautical detail and accuracy everyone talks about. The characters are my favorite part of your books, too, especially the social dynamics of aviators vs. Navy, etc. But I have to say in your books I feel more strongly than in O'Brian the overwhelming threat Napoleon posed to Europe -- perhaps because the O'Brian books are set in the Navy where Britain was clearly superior and yours deal more with the land wars. It gives me the best elements of historical fiction -- that the result we know wasn't inevitable.
Anyway these books are the first books with dragons that I've read since junior high (not counting those few cameos in Harry Potter). Thanks very much for writing them and bringing me and so many others hours of enjoyment.

Thank you for Temeraire! "Victory of Eagles" is the best yet in the series. I have my husband hooked too, and I relished his reading of VoE (and his giggles, cackles, and astonished hoots) almost as much as my own. We both think the admiralty will never be the same. I'm a little in love with Jane, or perhaps I want to be her when I grow up.
Thanks for signing up for LT; it's a wonderful site, and I'm looking forward to seeing you around.

As a long time fan of Napoleonic Naval stories, having cut my juvenile teeth with Hornblower, and worked my way through Ramage to Patrick O'Brian, I was, I have to confess, a little apprehensive when I came across the Temeraire series. You have, however, scored a palpable hit - and I practically jumped for joy when I read Janus' reference to the "Surgeon of the Sophie" in Victory of Eagles!
As our mutual friend would say "May God set a flower upon your head!"
Looking forward to future instalments.

Thank you for your literary contribution with the Temeraire series. I have purchased the first three (finished the first) and must concede that you are a supremely talented author and storyteller.
In a day and age where technology seems to be overtaking literature, I am pleased to see someone who has enough sit-down-upon to write novels and to do it in such exquisite form and fashion as yourself.
Thank you once again. So far, Throne of Jade is extremely interesting. I hope you continue to write.

"Victory of Eagles" was delightful, as I know you know, and I look forward with bated breath to the next installment. Thanks for turning me on my head.
Cheers

the first reading of any book. Anxiously awaiting the next volume.
Thank you for giving me a new world to escape to, when I need to escape.

I checked _His Majesty's Dragon_ out of the library, read it, and loved it. Enough so that I bought it and the next three in the series from the bookstore where I work. I regularly recommend your books to customers.
Keep them coming.
Thanks, ReneeMarie

I thought you might find it interesting that I read all of your books on the Amazon Kindle e-reader. I hope the next book comes out in Kindle version at the same time as the hardback!

We are currently considering reading His Majesty's Dragon (I've already read and really enjoyed it) and were wondering if you would be interested in stopping by for a chat now and again?
Hey - it'd mean great book sales! We've got 539 members, and I bet quite a few are going to run out to buy a copy. Also, Brandon wrote a very convincing article about why devoted readers should buy the hardback copies of books written by favorite authors. Hint, hint.
