Yeah I guess. I got an email from a guy last night. Him and his wife would be interested in sharing the cost of the building with us, they are wanting to buy sell and trade used dvd's and video games.

here's an update dear. we are planning to have the lease signed and start moving in befroe december. we still need to find shelves and get books. the books aren't all that big a deal but the shelves are a bitch, lol.

he is finishing his first book and has agreed to come by the store when we get it open and sign copies of his book. how cool is that.

No worries about the walls. We found another spot. The king Fong building, right under it. it's huge and perfect. it's more than 4500 sq feet and has a full basement. It used to be a resturaunt so there is some equipment we would have to do something with, but other than that.

When we do decide to start working on the store we will have a few office walls to tear down and some floor tile to put in. And maybe if we have the time before we open we would like to change the lights. other than that just getting shelves and putting books in them.

Good morning dear, well we have found a place. The Bull Durham building, down here just under the 10th street bridge. It's $2500 a month, has about 3000 square feet of space. The only thing is it's an old office space. We will have to go in and tear down some of the divider walls and put new floors in, but we are hoping to start setting up before the end of the year. We really can't wait to get this place up and running.

I looked through your wish list the other day. American Psycho kicks ass. I came across a copy of it while in Italy when I was in the navy. Just after the movie came out. It is a damned good book. I have lost it somewhere, damnit. And I have a 1969 paperback copy of Brave New World if you want it. I prolly won't ever read it again so you are more than welcome to it. Just let me know.

That would be great. we are hoping to be ready before the end of the year. As soon as we find a place. I did some research this weekend and we talked today. We figure that most of the books we sell will be used with a few newer books to round it out. I have already found a couple of sites that sell used books by bulk, so we could alot of books cheap. Something like .50 cent pbs and $1 hbs. We still need to find some shelves and things like that, but everything is coming along fine. As soon as we find and decide on a place I will let you know and you come and look it over.

Hey sweets. How are things? How was your trip? All good I Hope?

Me and A friend are going to open a book store. We pretty much already have the money. Right now we're looking for a place to put it. Somewhere in the old market. There is a place on Harney street by the orpheum theatre that would almost be perfect. I would very much like your input and/or opinion. We are still changing our minds about what all we want to do, alot, lol. He is wanting to sell new books, I'm wanting to do used. we will prolly compromise and do a little of both. If you or Tyler have been thinking about your own business we were even talking about sub-leasing, considering that the leases run about 3,000 to 5,000 monthly. Any way dear, it's pretty much all in the air decision wise. So anyway, let me know what you think.

So what's the first book you're going to review? I suggest The Prince of tides by Pat Conroy, but I am prejudice as that is my fave book ever, lol.

The dvd site is cool. I already have around 30 or so dvds posted and have gotten reqs for 7 or 8 of them to trade.

Ours overlap more than the stats think, due to books I've borrowed (Cell) and books I've given away (America: The Book), but I think we actually have quite a few in common. Anyway, nice to meet you.

I've read The Vision and Hideaway (they are both really good), but not By the Light of the Moon. I really loved Watchmen (we went to the Imax in Council Bluffs to see it), it's just as good if not better than The Dark Knight. :-)

Some libraries will actually fully or partially reimburse you for MLS tuition, but it depends on the library and their available funding.

I sent the Connecticut hospital a letter to complain about the way I was treated. They wrote back very politely telling me to go to hell.

I've heard that if you work in a library and they like you enough, they'll pay for you to get a degree. Is that true? Libraries are so impoverished, I don't know if they'd have the cash.

Unfortunately, people have a hard time dealing with me and my illness. In my last semester at Hendrix, I asked for help and didn't get it. In fact, the school authorities proceeded to make my life absolutely miserable and every time I think about it, I still get angry. I had a similar experience in Connecticut in November. I was on vacation and I got sick and, although I knew I could make it home, the friend I was seeing insisted I go to the hospital. So I was there overnight, but they had no room for me so I was in ER for 18 hours, in the noise and chaos, and the staff there generally treated me like garbage and provided no medical treatment at all. When I told my doctor at home about it, he was appalled. On top of everything else they billed me $1,500 for it (outside of what the insurance covered) and I'm still paying it off.

I feel like a bit of a failure since I don't have my degree. I am surrounded by very educated people. My boyfriend has three degrees, my father has a PhD and my mother a master's degree. Of course they all want me to go back to school. I'd love to. I'm just kind of afraid to try. Sigh.

I would love to get a library science degree. I majored in history at Hendrix and came close to finishing until life intervened. History is a good prelude to library science. Also Ball State in Indiana offers an undergrad library science degree.

I'm not certain what to do at this point. I have very little money, but I suppose my parents would help me out financially if I chose to go back to school. (They'd be thrilled. They've been nagging at me for years about that.) But my health is precarious. I've been hospitalized three times since July. The last thing I want is to almost complete a semester, than have another episode and get knocked off my feet and all my work wasted.

My education is complicated. To make a long story short, I dropped out of junior high at thirteen and, a year later, started taking classes at Ohio State University's Lima branch, where my father teaches. Then at seventeen I went away to Hendrix College in Arkansas, but I wasn't able to finish in part due to health problems. I returned home at twenty and have been home for almost three years now, working a crappy dead-end job and wondering how to get out of this situation.

I own some of them, but most of them I've checked out from the library. I have neither the space, the money or the inclination to buy all those books. I used to reread my old books quite a lot, but these past few years I won't reread books unless I really really love them. So I check out books from the library and read them, and if I really really love them, I buy them.

I'm trying to read at least 365 books for 2009. So far I'm ahead. I live in rural Ohio; there's not much else to do around here.

sorry for the late reply, but sure we would love to. I know what you mean, I haven't lived here very long myself. She was born and grew up in woodbine Iowa. And it's not akward at all, we appreciate the invite, just let us know when you were thinking.

And a few more recomendations:

If you like or love ghost stories you should track down and Revenant by Melanie Tem (it's a damned good ghost story, creepy as hell), The Haunting of Hill House by Shirly Jackson (it's a really really creepy ghost story) and Hell House by Richard Matheson (that's a scary as fuck, leave the lights on ghost story).

If you like or love vampire stories you should track down They Thirst by Robert McCammon (it's really good) and Live Girls & Night Life by Ray Garton (Live Girls is my favorite vampire book, and in my opinion much much better than Interview with the Vampire)

you should also find Swan Song by Robert McCammon (if you like huge epic horror stories this one kicks ass)

and one last book (for this post anyway, lol. Find Spoon River Anthology by Edgar Lee Masters. It's a really good ghost story told by the spirits themselves in poetic prose. It is really good, one of my fave books ever.

Relic and Reliquary are the first 2 and the best. Agent Pendergast is pretty much the only character that is in every book, excluding Mount Dragon, Riptide, The Ice Limit and Thunderhead (which aren't part of the series but share charatcers). The books in the series in order are Relic, Reliquary, The Cabinet of Curiosities (one of the best in the series), Still Life With Crows, Brimstone and Dance of Death. Have you seen the Relic movie that was made a few years ago? It was good but didn't have Pendergast in it, lol. I'm sure you prolly know all of this, but I love talking about those books, lol.

DVDAF is a really cool site. I found it by accident and have been a member for a few years now. I was on another site called DVDSpot, but it shut down. And I LOVE KEVIN SMITH, lol. Clerks and Dogma are my faves. If he wants, I have burner, I can burn him some. I also (incase you didn't notice) like freaky scary horror movies, lol. I like the old cheesy ones. And the more blood, boobs and bodies the better, lol. Troma is really good at making those kinds of movies, lol. But anyway I'll talk to you later.

I see you know my girlfriend Lori (lsknightsr1), lol. She said she really enjoyed talking to you and that I should add and talk to you too. So here goes, lol. I love Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child. Relic and Reliquary are 2 of my favorite books. I like James Patterson, especially the womens murder club. But my fave writer is Dean Koontz. I have been a huge fan of his since I read Watchers way back in high school, lol, and have paid quite a bit of money for some of his early paperbacks. He is the only writer I would do that for. I don't by new books very often anymore they are so expensive. My Favorite book ever is The Prince Of Tides by Pat Conroy. I absolutely love that book. I have read it soooo many times, lol. If you haven't ever read it, you should. especially if you like southern fiction. Hell even if you don't, lol. If you haven't ever read it and would like to I'll find you a copy. And like Lori says, we are always looking at books everywhere we go, so if there are any you are looking for send a list and we'll look for them.
