Grupos1001 Books to read before you die, Le Salon Litteraire du Peuple pour le Peuple

Sobre mimDo you want the shallow, list-y about me things, or the real things, hopes and dreams and such? Probably the former, eh? Alrighty then. I am mid 20s, live in Richmond, VA with my husband of five-ish years. We have two cats and hundreds of books in a tiny apartment. I spend Saturdays scouring used book stores, making book mooch shipments, and cross stitching. And reorganizing my bookshelves. Dusting them. Moving them. Trying to make myself go outside for five cotton pickin' minutes. Stereotypes I do fit: I read a good bit, and will probably judge your library, for which I am already deeply sorry. I'm a southerner, and do love sweet tea and Jesus (which doesn't automatically make me stupid, or in love with George W Bush, or the owner of an SUV, thankyouverymuch). I'm a vegetarian, and do tend to frequent the farmer's market. I also love designer clothes I can't afford so never buy, literary tattoos, other people's ennui, those cats that look like little leopards, the thought of one day having a castle, earl gray, couch naps, lumpia, having an ambiguous ethnicity that allows me to blend in anywhere, Ella Fitzgerald's voice, and doing yoga specifically so I can one day do the splits.

Sobre a minha bibliotecaMy library is ever-changing because I won't keep a book I didn't enjoy. I'm not a hoarder. I read mostly classics, although my goal for 2009 was to delve more into modern literature. There is now a tiny portion of my heart reserved for modern lit, mostly full of Kazuo Ishiguro, Jonathan Safran Foer, and Margaret Atwood. I love the Russians, Charlotte Bronte, and Dickens. My husband is into (shamefacedly hangs head) a lot of sci-fi, so I have read a bit of that, and came away quite loving Dune, Ender's Game, and The Dispossessed. I like my books with plot and a point.

Just to say totally agree with your review of Middlemarch, for me the greatest novel of all time.
