Noticed you liked Lovely Bones, and I was wondering if you'd be interested in reviewing my new novel and posting your comments here, as well as a few other book-related sites. Hi there,

You and I have 57 books in common (so far--I don't know how far along you are in cataloguing, I am about 75% finished, I think). Anyway, I noticed you reviewed "Women of the Left Bank: Paris 1900-1940" by Shari Benstock. I am looking for a book (nonfiction) that will give me a sense of Parisian lesbian subculture in the late nineteenth century and am curious if you have any leads. I kind of browsed through your library but didn't see anything that quite fits. Would you recommend the Benstock book for that purpose? My own period of expertise is 1870ish to 1920ish, but in the U.S., not France.

I am interested because I'm writing a novel that briefly dips into lesbian society in Paris around 1885-1900 or thereabouts.

Hi! Welcome to LT! I saw your name on my list of "recent" members with my books (actually, you top the list) and thought I stop over and say hi. Tim & co (LT founder and staff) did away with the feature to see a list of newer/recent members who shared books - a list I enjoyed browsing - so I was happy to see he has brought it back. Can I guess from your books that you are Canadian and perhaps a teacher? We do share a great list of books! Do you plan to socialize on LT at all; if so, I would recommend groups like: "The Atwoodians" (fans of Margaret Atwood, a fairly quiet group), "Girlybooks" (books by and about women; active group {the name of the group is a bit of a misnomer}), and the "What are you reading now" group (large group, good place to start). If I can be of any help, don't hesitate to ask. Best, Lois
