Sobre mimI'm a homebody. I love reading and finding new books through discussions here on LibraryThing, I also enjoy spending time with my family, volunteering, knitting, watching old movies, and playing with my dog Pippin.

We are a military family and have moved many times across Canada and each time the movers complain about all the books, it's definitely the constant family story. I always feel like we're finally home when all my books are unpacked and sorted out.

I keep books because I love them and want to read them again, because they offer fond memories of who gave them to me or who owned them before me, for reference, or to up my count on LibraryThing ;-)

"Even when reading is impossible, the presence of books acquired produces such an ecstasy that the buying of more books than one can read is nothing less than the soul reaching towards infinity...we cherish books even if unread, their mere presence exudes comfort, their ready access reassurance." A.E. Newton

I'm reading: Letters From India by Lady Wilson
Ghost Hunters by Deborah Blum

I'm listening to: An Echo In the Bone by Diana Gabaldon

Sobre a minha bibliotecaMy collection is pretty eclectic, mostly fiction, my preference, but non-fiction too, biographies, references, art, history, crafts. Before the advent of collections, all the books catalogued were physically in my library. Before the advent of LibraryThing most I'd read. Now you can see I have an extensive Wish List collection and an equally extensive To Read collection. It's a living thing, always growing, sharing and comparing with friends and family.

Well, the title stuck in my head after you mentioned it... it seems like a month or so ago, but I'm sure it must be longer. My poor leaky brain.

:o)
Well, isn't that what we all want for Christmas -- demonic paradox, damnation and death? Seriously, I hope you enjoy them both. Do let me know how you enjoy The Elegance of the Hedgehog -- it's on my wishlist, too. It was really fun picking for you -- the challenge was finding the books I wanted in print! You share some of my "softer edged" favorites like Elizabeth Goudge that no one seems to read any more. One in that vein I thought you might enjoy but didn't send because it's not especially literary is [Coming Home] by Rosamund Pilcher, which always makes me think of Christmas time. I'm not sure why-- maybe because that's when I read it!

At any rate, I enjoyed being your Santa this year. Happy holidays -- I hope Santa brings you lots more books!

Liz
Those look lovely and thanks for thinking of me Katy. I'm currently on a book buying moratorium as I'm unemployed. Back in school full time and without any income so I'm trying to be frugal. I've rediscovered the local library system (2nd largest in the US) so I'm not lacking things to read.
Regards,
Dean.
Thank you for the parcel, it arrived today to the delight of Scottie as much as me, she was sniffing it hopefully (and in vain, I'm not sharing). There is a small something on the way to you too but I only posted it on Tuesday so I doubt it will be with you just yet.
I figured out my email error. I got all the o's but omitted the h. hehehehe

love, K
OK, I just sent you an email at 10:55 am on Thursday morning. Hope this one works. love, K
we actually had very little wind on Wednesday night; it is still rainy, though. Greta and I went for a short walk and she kept shaking herself...whew, too wet, she says. The other two....they don't like it outside at all.

I'll try the email again.

love, K
hello, hope this finds you well and happy and that the recent rain and wind has not driven you to rash behaviors....hehehe

did you get my email?

love, Karen
will do...email, here I come

Thanks for asking.

love, K
Ooh. Look what I just found. I can't wait. I hope he does another reading in Victoria.

Katherine,

Thank you! One child is doing pretty well, and the other is really ill. Fever went up to 104 yesterday. It's tough because this one can't swallow pills, so chewables have to be ground up and put in a shake. :o/ So far I'm fine. I wonder if/and hope that this bug is one I've had over the years. Half the school is sick with this chest/cough thing. Luckily there are only a few isolated cases of H1N1, so far.

I'll add that book to my wishlist. Thanks for thinking of me.
*hugs*
Clare
*waves back* we are fine and got your lovely polar bear postcard, thank you. There are postcards on the way to you too.
Thank you for the smile and the hug. I felt it clear down here! Mary Lou
My goodness, katylit, we have a lot of books in common! I have yet to enter my non-fiction (waiting for the CueCat to arrive) and I suspect we'll share a few of those too as I also enjoy knitting, quilting, general craft stuff. Cheers!
Thanks ever so much! I will be writing soon!

*HUGS*
I am so glad you had a happy visit with all. And new books, too! One of the best parts of coming home is the happies the doggies do - dancing, and jumping, and motor tails waggin'

Nicky, Greta Garbo and Buckwheat are all well and happy. Greta is asleep under my right elbow as I type this on my lap top. I've been very busy with way too many activities but I seem to be keeping my head above water.

Your little sculpture doesn't look like a bumble bee but if you say so, we will call it one!

Take care of yourself. And I'll see you soon, one way or another I am sure.

Karen
HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!!
:o)

Clare
Got your letter a few days ago. I hope to get a reply to you in the next week or so. Bear with me things have been crazy.

Cheers,

Rune
Oh no. I checked out the Folio Society devotees group and I can feel myself getting sucked into becoming a member and getting books. But it did also inspire me to read Hansel and Gretel, from the FS Grimms Fairy Tailes, to Tam and Jaden. I love the illustrations. And Jaden's eyes went so round when he realized the witch wanted to roast the kids!

Hope you're doing well.
Sandra
Hi there. Sorry for the delay in replying..haven't been around too much. I loved 'The Girls', a very sensitive portrayal from an author who has no personal experience of conjoined twins. Hope your niece is still having a good time...it's coming into Spring/Summer now, so the weather has been lovely.

*hugs*
'See you the day after tomorrow!'

Wow, seeing it like that, it smacked me with how soon we'll be meeting up.
