Rick, I'm honored that you should deem my library an interesting one. I see we share 40 books - not so many, really -- but the more interesting thing is the odd, eclectic mix of titles on that list (one of the more intriguing mixes I have come across).

I see a jazz book under your "random books" in the right hand column, there has been quite a bit of jazz discussion in the group "Club Read" under the "music interests" thread, if you'd like to pop in.

Thank you for the link. James Lee Burke has been a favorite of mine for a long time !

How exciting to be traveling ! It sounds as if you are spending a fair amount of time....making it a really worth while trip ! I wish you and your wife safe travels.

My children have all settled close to home. Some times I feel this is a good thing, other times I wish for more distance :>0

I see that you added a book on step-by-step Spanish. Is this a refresher for you or are you just starting to learn the language ? I ask because I would so like to try learning Spanish but I'm not sure how easy that would be at this stage of the game. There are those Rosetta Stone CD's that guarantee you will learn but they are expensive.

I am pleased you find my library interesting. I am also interested that you keep a list of what you read. I have done this since I learned how to read, but know of no one else who has done that. But I am sure there are folk who have--I just have never encountered one who has done such all through life as I have.
I share a dislike for sci fi and fantasy, so you will find very little of those categories in my listing, though there are a few. I try to read what should be read and also what especially interests me.
I have done considerable reading on vietnam, and the book you list by tobey Herzog interests me. Have you read it? Do you think I should?

Hello, Rick. Like everyone else here, I'm totally excited when somebody likes my library. I see that we share 41 very interesting books! ---- so I have to ask: why won't you read scifi? Or more to the point - how long has it been since you tried something speculative and what was it? (My pure entertainment reading used to be mystery almost exclusively. In the past few years, however, I've come to love many, many writers of science fiction. It's strange because my background is in literature and classical music, but I find so many good writers in the genre and so many ideas for reflection that I can't read fast enough!) At any rate, when you have time to speak, I'm always more than happy to speak back.

I'm not sure I'd be up for the Red riding Quartet, but I'll probably get Peace's promised Tokyo books. We lived there on and off for more than 20 years. We drove through Yorkshire a few years ago, mostly on back roads. We found it lovely. We had great stay at Hutton-le-Hole (I think that's Yorkshire). It happened to be the night of the annual town dinner and dance. The shepherd's pie and mushy peas were --er-- interesting, but each of the farm ladies brought in her version of trifle for a sort of dessert contest that was unforgettable.
