Sobre a minha bibliotecaThis is round two of my library-- I sold all my books about 5 years ago when I moved into a closet. I love books, however, and continue to read and collect them. I'm starting to add the books from my "former library" and tagging them as such.

I have also made it a project to change the dates to the original publication dates, and not the date the particular edition was published (in English, if that's available or relevant). I'm apologizing ahead of time to combiners for whom this will possibly be a PITA. It's just that I am interested to see which books were published around the time of which others, and I hate to see dates on books that are later than the dates I originally read them.

Noticed you liked As I Lay Dying, and I was wondering if you'd be interested in reviewing my new novel and posting your comments here as well as a few other book-related sites. Thought you might like my book since it's also southern and a bit dark. I could e-mail you the novel in an e-book format if you'd like (I'm out of physical copies at the moment). Here's a link to a summary (and a sample chapter)in case you'd like to read more about the novel before you commit:

Thanks,

Hey thanks, birdman, that's great to hear! I enjoy proppin' up either little known (at least outside pomo circles) gems like JR or new authors struggling to find an audience. I've yet tackled his last two novels (or Agape Agape) and would still like to one day return to the Recognitions with the help of an online guide I saw around somewhere. But in the meantime, I've just started the long haul up Ulysses.

All the best,
EF
Jay, Thanks! Oh yeah, I read fiction -- have a good collection of it plus nonfiction. In this case, though, I was simply trying to get my poetry figured out -- in case I want to donate it (some time in the FAR future) to a library.
Just wanted to write and say that I really appreciate your appreciation of Paul Metcalf. I'm not as well read in him as you are, having read only Genoa, but I too, nevertheless, as you mentioned at the end of your review of The Middle Passage (nice use of alliteration btw!) do not understand why his work has been so neglected. Had he not been listed in that top 100 English language novels write-up awhile back, I doubt I'd have ever encountered him.
Nice collection. Nice bite-sized reviews. Another Simic fan! Cheers.
Hi Jay, Tomorrow when I go to work I plan to listen to both of your poems. My dial up is slow and plus it's been acting weird. I have a great connection in my office at work. I have an hour between teaching; I'll listen to it then. Thanks for sharing these.
Hi. You have an impressive library. I have to ask which novel you found more difficult: Gravity's Rainbow or Ulysses? I have read only the former and would like to have some idea as to the challenge presented by Ulysses (effort/reading time). Cheers.
Hi, Jay ! I just figured out that you can put books in your library that aren't on Amazon, etc. Use the ADD BOOK MANUALLY feature. I put a bunch of the Moon Pie Press chapbooks on my library. Quickly got up to 200 books and got message that you have to pay to have a larger online library....

Alice
thanks for the comment. i've upgraded my account now... it'll be a while before i fully utilize it though, as i am pretty busy, but i'll get around to it eventually! :)
Jay, it seems we share some poetry and are the only two users to have certain McKeel McBride and Wesley McNair collections. Do you keep up with Sharon Olds? I stopped collecting hers after "The Father" - I thought the collections were all sounding alike. It's nice to see a shared book list that has so many poetry collections on it. Best, Lois
I've actually skimmed a little of early goldbarth but have always gotten sidetracked. I'll give it another try. A friend of mine also swears by his earlier stuff tho the new book wasn't big with either one of us. Thanks for the tip! dawn
