And don't forget Amazon Marketplace. There's deals to be had on there, if you get lucky. Best of luck!
Bill, Thanks for the kind words regarding my collection. First off, the Celts is a 1996 Harvill Press (London) collection, in English, of the Corto Maltese 1917-1918 adventures, these range from The Angel at the Window of the East through Burgandy Wine and Picardy Roses. I believe these were all collected by NBM in the 1980s, though I seem to recall that the translation was better in this version. IT looks like if you do a search on Amazon, you can find one from a marketplace seller for 30 dollars to over 100 or so.

MU is a French hardcover by Casterman, so far not translated into English. It's a fantastic book, just for the art alone. I think this was one of the last Corto stories that Pratt did. I think what I have is the 'special edition; with the first third of the book is all Pratt sketches and historical background (and perhaps a research travelogue by Pratt--I don't know as I cannot read French). The rest of the volume is the Mu story itself---I think I got very lucky on an ebay auction with this, as I did not pay close to the 200 or so this thing seems to command.
Thanks for the nice comment. If you're interested in meeting her, I believe that Carla Speed McNeil goes to a fair number of comic cons every year, especially the small press events like APE in San Francisco and SPX in Bethesda. She seemed very friendly and eager to sign and chat.
By the way, if you are interested in a more extended electronic conversation about where I obtained some of the volumes I have, or similar issues, you could e-mail me. Due to security issues, I am loathe to post my actual e-mail address in a public comment, but if you wish to contact me you can look me up: my e-mail is posted on my website, which can be easily found by just searching for the Philosophy Department at the University of Minnesota, and then looking under faculty.

Re: Your comment.

Which books are you referring to? I have access to some really good Half-Price books here in Minneapolis, including one where a pretty serious collector of comics unloads his old stuff (I haven't met him, but the staff have mentioned a couple times to me that I seem to buy about 90% of what he sells them!) A lot of my older reference stuff comes from there.

Anyway, I basically pick up anything on comics that I spot, as well as ordering new stuff off of Amazon. I am currently teaching a course on comics at the U of Minnesota. Like I said, if you tell me which volumes you have in mind, I can probably tell you where I got them.

Best

Thank you for adding me to your Interesting Libraries.
I am pretty jealous of your Pogo collection. Fortunately for me there will be a new collection starting this year.
