Sobre mimI'm a fiction author whose written creations inhabit various magazines, anthologies, and drawers. These include over 40 publications, the likes of Cemetery Dance, ChiZine, and the Bizarro Starter Kit (blue). While preparing for the forthcoming collapse of civilization, I enjoy living in Southern California in a moderately haunted Victorian farmhouse with my wife, Lisa. I'm currently working on many stories and novels and I'm losing my hair, though not because of the ghosts. My books include VACATION, and SHEEP AND WOLVES. My first film is called EGG. You can visit my online home at jeremycshipp.com
If there are any reviewers interesting in reading Vacation or Sheep and Wolves, feel free to contact me.
Here are some of my short stories published online. If you'd like to do me the honor of checking any of them out, I'd love to hear what you think.
Camp (a horror story)
Scratch
Parsnip the Artist (a story for the kids at heart)
Metal the Rebel (another story for the kids at heart)
Trout
Monkey Boy and the Monsters

Thanks for the contact. If you'd like to send any of your books for review in Australia, I am a staff writer for Black: Australia's Dark Culture magazine and the mag gets nationwide distribution in this country. I recommend it for a bit of extra review coverage down here where there are many fans of horror and dark literature.
If sending review copies, send directly to attention: Angela Challis, Editor
Brimstone Press

and tell 'em I sent you.

I'd love to help you out somehow. I haven't read the book, and have some review books I need to before I could but I am always willing to review books on my journal, but I could also interview you for the footnote (thefootnote.net) if you want. I have Tim Pratt to interview first but that might get some word out?
Past that I dunno, got any ideas sir?

Nice of you to drop by! The God of Small Things got me interested in reading Asian lit -- and I'm southeast Asian, so it's funny that I had to be inspired to read Asian lit more.
I'm hesitating on naming an ultimate favorite right now, but Life of Pi, Kitchen Confidential and Kavalier and Clay would come close. :)

I honestly don't have a favorite novel(s). There are so many I enjoy that I couldn't even pick a couple.
As for Buffy season 8, I like it so far. It almost makes up for the series being over. It's the first comic I ever read actually. :)

re: your inquiry about favorite novels
Favorites are notoriously difficult to pin down, as most of us are quite fickle, and "favorite" is ill-defined in any case. However, the novel that had the greatest emotional impact on me at the time I read it (long ago, and far away) was undoubtedly Kristin Lavransdatter, but Sigrid Undset.

Thanks for your friendship. There will be an opportunity next week for you to understand what this weird English guy that keeps contacting you is writing about. Next week you may wish to listen in on the UK based rock station KERRANG RADIO on Wednesday 5th December at 2230 (UK time). I will be interviewed on that station and I will be presenting my theory - which I call "Cheating The Ferryman". The intention is that I will do the interview on the 5th then at a date and time to be agreed in January I will return and there will be a full, open phone-in available to those who wish to ask me questions or join in the debate. This will last three hours or so. The initial interview can be listened to online at www.kerrangradio.co.uk I am hopeful that this will be a big debate. Over 20,000 people across the world - from Chile to China - have now read the book and I wish as many as possible to be aware of this event. It would be great if you could listen in. Indeed we could try and name-check this excellent site. Please feel free to let anybody else that you may think may be interested know about this.
Best Wishes

It's always nice to find someone who has a lot of the same books as I have!
One favorite? That's much too hard a question, as my favorite changes acoording to my mood. Some books that I tend to re-read regularly follow.
Song of Solomon by Morrison
Love in the Time of Cholera by Garcia Marquez
The White Boy Shuffle by Beatty
Territory by Bull
Bottomfeeder by Fingerman
and anything written by Octavia Butler
I have a lot of favorites. If you're looking to get a handle on what I really like to read it might be more helpful to check my favorite authors list on my profile. A lot of those folks are on my "automatic buy" list.
Thanks for asking. I am interested to read your work now.

In no particular order, then:
The Demon's Sermon on the Martial Arts, Issai Chozanshi
The Unfettered Mind, Takuan Soho (a translation of three letters by him)
Liber Aleph, Aleister Crowley
Sha'are Orah, Joseph Gikatilla,
A number of books by David Edits (pre-Athalus)
I'm enjoying Jim Butcher these days as well
The Adept series by Katherine Kurtz and Deborah Turner Harris
Oh, really, the list goes on and on I guess.

1. I'm impressed that you actually browse people's books. I guess books are truly important to you. Bravo!
2. Interestingly, I don't read much novels, so after I picked up Dan Brown's Da Vinci Code (and subsequently finished it within a day) I bought every Dan Brown's books and read them all.
3. My feeling re: Dan Brown is that he is a very ADD-friendly writer. He writes his books based on a tweaked algorithm for writing, so you might find them a bit formulaic, but it does grow on you.
4. Angel & Demons is the prequel to Da Vinci Code, but I don't recommend it, and he is clearly still tweaking his writing formula.
5. I recommend Deception Point, which is a mix of secrets, politics, and global policy. A very fun read. As with all novels, I recommend getting a hard cover--but that's just me :)
Glad to be a new friend!
Cheers,
See-ming

Thanks very much for the invite. I just read Parsnip the artist. I like your style, simple and direct. You know how to tell a story. I'll read more of your works. But how you can list among your favorite authors Brett Easton Ellis AND C.S. Lewis just beats me.

By the way, have you read any Christopher Moore (Lamb, Stupidest Angel, Dirty Job)? He's one of the few authors out there who can make me guffaw. He fills his books with quirky characters and crazy circumstances. I don't know if you like that sort of thing, but I highly recommend him for days when you feel like absorbing good vibes.
