Yeah, its Chinese. Its about a boy who was born into a really poor family and one day, he is selected by this prestigeous ballet school for a scholarship. He becomes a brilliant dancer and it just follows his hardships in the USA when his visa runs out and all these other problems. I know I sound a bit vague, but its meant to be a good read. My friend is crazy about it. :)

no, i think I'm going to see it with one of my friends, she hated Twilight from the begining, and loves to make fun of it, she has been begging me to see it with her. i said okay because I would most likely miss a whole lot of jokes at school if i didn't. I posted one, but it wasn't an interesting post. something about coming on to subjects late and having no idea of what people are talking about. and I don't know why but I'm starting to grow to dislike twilight, but i think it isn't just twilight it's self but alot of the romance movies, I still like romance books, it's just the movies. But also lately I have been whatching a couple romance movies and they didn't even have a plot! I think my favourite movie right now is Schindlers list (sp?), that's an amazing movie. have you seen it? oh, and did you here about that one town hall meeting a couple days ago? Where there was a Jewish man who stood up and started supporting Obama in spite of everyone around him, and then there was this lady who wanted him to stop talking so bad that she shouted heil hitler at him and did the nazi salout (sp?), the man was like shame shame on you. after that she claimed she was only trying to "protect" him. really bad case of flawed logic.

am reading Speak, it's really interest, I stayed up until 1 o'clock reading it.

yeah, this harry potter movie was my favourite so far; you're right, the special effects were incredible.

I suppose it looks a bit bizarre when i said about the nanotechnology and gy rights, but i can explain. The nanotechnology paper is a group paper, and the topic was given to us. The other is an individual one and I chose the subject.

Australian Idol has just started over here. Do you watch the Australian one or just the American?

I have been, uh, let's see:
hiking w/ friends, then running away from angry gadeners. pretty much daily. those gardeners have a short temper! I we step on one little plant by acident they will flip out and glare at us. lol, we aren't going there on thursdays, when they come.

Yeah, I'm going to see it with a bunch of friends..I am counting the days! It looks AMAZING!!! Yeah, I love urban fantasties the most (Twilight, The Mortal Instruments trilogy etc)..
Um..no, Believe is actually called; Believe: From Addiction to Redemption and is about two recovering drug addicts. It's really emotion and the end made me cry a little b/c it has a really unexpected twist. You might not be able to find it b/c it's a new Australian book..I think it was published either this year or the last.

How cool was the trailer? omg taylor looked so hot without his shirt on. The whole show was brilliant. The Bruno stunt was a bit dodgy; my favourite bit was Zac Efron's flummoxed look when he was announced the winner. Rob was so funny with KStew with the kissing award. "I need to remove my gum." :D Loved it.

I'm so mad that I missed the MTV awards!

I'm very surprized Twilight won the award for best fight scene (especially over The Dark Night). I (personally) thought the fight scene was a wee bit cheesy, I couldn't help a giggle or two. Don't get me wrong, it was very engrossing and all, but still how could it beat The Dark Night ?

I'm 14, and people do say that I am mature for my age. I just like to write, and English is my best subject, so when it comes to writing about something that I am passionate about, the words kind of flow.

I know! I was devastated that he didnt win. I was like, NOOOOOOOOO!!! He was so, incredibly brilliant in his performances, and so unique! In saying that, how brilliant were the guest performers? Queen, KISS, Lionel Richie. Adam could have been a KISS or a Queen member! :D

As soon as Kris was announced though, I thought the same as you, that the runners up are quite successful too. Its like that with Australian Idol too. Hopefully we will hear a lot more about him in the near future.

A website sounds heaps good! Next semester in Information Processing and Publishing, we learn how to create a website. Maybe once I've learned the basics I could help you out a bit! :D

To sum up one of the longest comments Ive made on LT, dont be too bummed about Adam.He is so talented, its only a matter of time before he reaches superstardom!

I read an artical about how Kris's church put a comment on their website telling people to vote for Kris and not Adam. I didn't think it would effect much.... until now....

And I whatched the Fox11News interview(s) with Adam. He had such a great spirit, and was giving congrats to Kris the WHOLE time!

Though it doesn't matter who won, they both will have great music careers(sp?)! like David A and David C from last year!

Did you hear Kiss might take Adam on tour (or something like that)?!

Wasn't the "Idol Awards Ceremony(sp?)" a little cruel?

I feel SO bad! I couldn't vote last night! I had terrible food poisoning! Amd my DVR thingie didn't even record his preformance! so now I'm going to have to look for it on the internet (I don't realy care about that part , it's just a hasle to have to find it on the internet).

Next time I will (most likely) NOT have food poisoning, and will text constantly!

Yesterday me and a couple of my friends went behind my backyard to this place that is all nature nothing else. We found a meadow that looks like exactly what the Twilight meadow should have looked like, with the wavy smoothe grass, the perfect amount of sun, and seems to have some kind of natural AC!

I only voted six times, but still, I have never even voted on american idol before so this is extreme (for me). I was sitting there staring (looking very stupid) at that number (1,220) for... who knows how long!!?!

I would rather have Anoop get out, b/c he keeps on trying to sing pop/R&B, which isn't a very good choice for him. Do you argee?

Whoa, that's the perfect trailer for new moon! The only thing(s) are that the werewolf looked a little like the normal Hollywood version of one and that the Volturi (I forgot how to spell "volturi" so that was a geuss) looked more like four old judges rather than billion year old vampires. But the many great things over ruled the few bad things. :D How did you find that trailer? All I can find is Rick Astly and all those fanmade ones. I must not have looked long enough.

awwww thats sad my dog shorty he was a chiuhuahua he was a mean little thing very protective of me when my dad would wake me up for school he would pat me on my shoulder and shorty would try to bite him (never bite him cause he backed away) and shorty went after 2 boxers and had the boxer by the throat. we had to spray him with water to get him off. but one day he ran out and 4 pitt bulls attacked him when we finally got him out he was still alive and breathing but we had to put him to sleep way to much damage done.

Sunday was the last day to order from blockbuster and it cost 22.99
when every where else its 17.99

I saw your latest comment on my page, and I like all four, especially mystery, beacuse you never really know whod killed who or who did what. Thats why i love mystery. I bought an ipod touch with the money I got. And I got a cake and Outback for dinner. My friends decorated my locker at school and sang happy birthday really loud before going into the school building. Then I gave cookies to the people in my Language/Literature Class. It was fun. Me too, i spent most of Saturday and Sunday reading, with the exeption of my dad having a BBQ later on Sunday. It was pretty fun.

Yea I really Like Those Books I cant wait for march 10th for the 5th book to come out im sorry i had to logg off all of a sudden i had to go and i didnt have time to say bye :/ And Yea Like It Was Soo Hot In My Teachers Room And I Didnt really eat that day soo i was like shaking and sweating and my stomache hurt and im kinda sleep deprived since im read ALOT now and i cant put the books down lol so i go to bed at like 1 or 2 and i have to wake up at 8 and school starts at 9:20 and im always wait cause i usally doint get up till 9 i had a rough day :/

I get pangs for America too. I love it there. It's so beautiful and everyone is just like your cousins or something. It's so peaceful and relaxing and clear. ARRRGGGGH. Yep, I loved Memoirs of a Geisha and yeah, I read about how he wasn't meant to mention the geisha but he did. I haven't watched the movie yet but it's on my list (which keeps on growing, need to go to the cinema more). I definitely know about how Asia is way cheaper, since I am half Asian and my mother's stories. I went to Vietnam when I was young so I can't remember it. We're gonna go back there, don't know when. I want to visit Japan but it looks so much like America now, all big cities and ultra-whiteness. That annoys me. How America influences countries that were perfect before. But eh. And no, I didn't know The Embers Of Heaven was a sequel. Hmmm. I picked up One Of Those Hideous Books Where The Mother Dies, The Devil Wears Prada and The Year The Gypsies Came. So I have lots to read. And The 150 books I got from the SVH series isn't all of them. I think there's at least 50 more but then's there's got Sweet Valley Kids, Sweet Valley Twins, Sweet Valley Twins and Friends, Sweet Valley University, the Elizabeth series and Mystery ones and Super Chiller ones and The Secret Love Diaries. So there's lots of spinoffs and even more then I mentioned. It's making me dizzy :)

LOL! Sweet Valley High, I guess is an older (and BETTER) version of Gossip Girl (I hate GG though). It's about identical twins, Jessica and Elizabeth and their daily lives. Because being absolutely gorgeous is just too hard a struggle, GRRR :) No, they're definitely good, you know, boys, school, the occassional insane mass murderer, the ups and downs of being beautiful (and twins) and all that. We need to buy another book case, my other two are full :)

I read that you like Chinese books about the struggle of women/children. Well, it was good but it was a little too mature (not the contents, more the writing) for me but you might enjoy it. It's called, "The Embers of Heaven." :) And Alice suggested "Memoirs of a Geisha" to me and I loved it (it's Japanese, I know but still a good read if you haven't already).

I loved how the story was set out in all the notes, IM's and other written messages of Rosie's life. I thought that was really creative. My favourite out of the three would have to be If You Could See Me Now. I really enjoyed the imagination part of it.

Morris Gleitzman has written many many books that revovle around an issue facing children, such as having no parents to lie detector nipples (okay, I guess that doesn't really count as a problem facing children). I recommend Two Weeks With The Queen, Boy Overboard, Girl Underground and Doubting Thomas. Two Weeks With The Queen is about a boy whose brother gets cancer, so he goes to stay with his aunt and uncle in England, where he seeks the help of the Queen of England to help cure his brother. Boy Overboard and Girl Underground are both linked together. Boy Overboard follows two refugees, Jamal and Bibi, as they try to escape to Australia, only to be hijacked by pirates. Girl Underground continues the story of Jamal and Bibi, but from the viewpoint of a girl called Bridget who makes friends with the Prime Minister's son who happens to be Jamal's penpal. Together, Bridget and Menzies try to break Jamal and Bibi out of jail. Finally, Doubting Thomas is the story of a boy who discovers that his nipples get itchy when someone tells a lie. He travels to France to try and be cured of an early death.

I'm not sure if bookstores or libraries in America would stock Morris' books, as he is an Australian author, but if you can get your hands on them, they are well worth a read.

about how the German rebels tried to fight back against Hitler.
It's a true story.

We did a lot on Simon Wiesenthal in class this year.

You might want to check out the Ranger's Apprentice series. If you liked Harry Potter as much as the rest of the world did, you will really enjoy this series. It's a teen/ya fantasy and it's quite original.

Yes, it was when David didn't care that Zane would be killed if he stayed there, I was like, "Uh!" then I thought about how Edward tried to not harm Jacob b/c that would hurt Bella. David didn't care.
I'm going to read City of Bones after Inkspell, haven't been able to read that much since school started :( Too much homework and not enough time. Plus, friends :)
Troy is a really good movie, I cried when Hercules dies, it was so sad!!! I'm tearing up now - jokes!
I'll try to start a tag when I have enough time, maybe on the weekend and we can look at it :)

I actually wanted Tally and Zane to end up together, it was just how David was so rude about Zane and even Zane was in the same sort of position as David, he was kind to him and valued him as a friend. But that's just me :) Though, I was glad to hear (SPOILERS!) that Tally and David may be in a relationship at the end of Extras.
I've loved Greek Mythology for a while, I really love anicent Egypt as well. I love the movie Troy with Brad Pitt in it, that was a good movie. It made me cry how Hercules dies at the end, after he truly fell in love with someone for the first time.
I actually heard about the movie Ohio on a morning TV show today. I was like, "That's what Hermee told me!" It said about how JT wanted more screen time and Zac wanted the lead (pretty ungrateful to me!) but I guess they've got big heads now b/c of all their fame.
Yes .. Romeo does remind me of Edward some times (and vice versa) just the angst and tragedy. But Edward ISN'T fickle - lol :)
I guess I just don't like wishy-washy people saying one thing one time and then saying another immediately afterwards. When Romeo did that I was like, "What happened to Rosaline? The supposed only true love of your life?" But I liked him much more after he married Juliet. At least he was passionate :)
I have two bookcases jam-packed with books, mostly from the occassional book sale but mostly from garage sales. I really like Sweet Valley High (not as air-headed as it sounds!) and they're reprinting them so I might buy the ones I don't have. I like the ones after the 90 mark more.
And I was an avid fan of the Baby-Sitter's Club and have so many of them. But I've grown out of them but I still read them occasionally.
Also, just got City of Bones? Good recommendations, read it yet?

Sure :) Puck isn't as bosterious in A Midsummer's Night Dream as in Sisters Grimm. But it's a wonderful story and there's two interlocking plots.
You're so lucky with your book sales. I'd die of excitement if we had anything like that where I am. But I get lots of books from garage sales when I can.

Well .. you've maybe already read it but for Greek Mythology, The Illiad and Alice recommends Percy and the Olympians or something like that (have a bad memory).
No, my computer wouldn't let me on your profile and a couple of sites I liked (GRRR!)
If you haven't read it, read Blood & Chocolate (werewolf novel). I haven't read it but I am planning to and everyone I've talked to says it's the best werewolf novel out there.
I thought Inkheart dragged at the beginning, almost gave up on it but glad I didn't. Have you read Uglies? Extremely good books, I've read the first three, there's got four. The three I read are sensational, particularly the second.
I love to be up to date with Twilight goss and love to tell my friends and talk about every little detail for hours (literally :))
Shakespeare is fantastic. I've read A Midsummer's Night Dream and Romeo and Juliet. I got them in original text but there had helpful footnotes. A Midsummer Night's dream is my favourite out of the two. I thought Romeo was a pretty fickle character, falling in love with Rosaline, then being rejected, saying he'll never look at another woman and then falls in love with her cousin (Juliet) at the party that night. But loved the ending, even though they died. It was a romantic, trageic (sp?) ending and yes, I bawled my eyes out.
I have to say I don't have much patience with Austen. Tried to read Sense and Sensability but gave up. Liked the movies, however :)
Anyway, better be off once again!

I saw that you're reading the Sisters Grimm. They are awesome books and I enjoyed them very much (even more than the Inkworld trilogy, which I am up to Inkspell in).
I have only read the first three Sister Grimms but they are so good.
In the third, there is a little surprise with Puck and Sabrina *wink, wink*
Tell me how you're finding them so far. I recommended them to Fely and she said she'll look into them. They are excellent, good-written books. Was surprised that ths was his first novel, looked like he's been writing for years (Michael Buckley). I have only recently got into fantasy and now, I'm hopelessly hooked. The more magical, the better.
Anyway, better be off!

lol yes i did me and xcullen drew pictures of eatchother and that would be her. The year of secret assignments was a great book. it had some boreing parts like all books but over all it was great. I dont know if you red the describtion but it is about 3 girls in a privite school writeing to 3 boys in a public school. it sounds completely boreing, i know. but it is a romance, a mystery, and it keeps you on edge! this is going to sound rude but are you a teen? you read some teen books thats the only reason i ask. i love the twilight books!!! they are really good. anywho back to the year of secret assignments! i am still waiting to buy the 2nd one. my friends at school read the describtion and have been dieing to read it. i am not giveing my copy to anyone though, i cant stand to be outside of the same building as it!lol. i am strange..... anywho i think you would love the book!

New Moon for me the second time was a lot easier than the first.
I actually felt myself liking Jacob a little more the 2nd time.

I started Fablehaven today and I'm only on chapter 5, but I like it already.

Yeah, I read all that stuff too =DD Off a site called newmoonmovie.org. About the RobP getting more screen time, um, I think it should ONLY be memories and flashbacks, that would fit with the book, some people want to see what he's doing but it's Bella's story, not his, New Moon is about her depression and then her attachment to Jacob, seeing what Edward's doing would just ruin the movie, after all, Bella (and us, for that matter) think he doesn't love her anymore and to see him being all depressed would kinda ruin the movie. Did you know they are starting Breaking Dawn in 2010? See you =)

I actually do like it better than Inkheart.
I just didn't like Inkheart all that much.
I really like Doria and Roxanne.
They are my favorite characters besides Meggie and Dustfinger.

PS: In the last year, I've found out about an obscure book on Chinese etiquette and culture that was written by a woman who lived in China around the turn of the century. It's not an unknown book, but seems to be quite expensive for an original - in the $650 range for an original copy. I'll have to spend some time during the next year trying to find it again. I DO KNOW it's been reprinted and you can get copies off of Amazon for less than $25 or so.

My Thanksgiving was pretty lazy.
After we ate everyone pretty much took a nap :]

Twilight was amazing wasn't it? I loved it and couldn't stop thinking about it for days. I loved the kitchen scene and the baseball scene. Ashley Greene did a great job of portraying Alice and everyone else did pretty good too. I agree about the chest hair thing and he didn't seem that repulsed by her smell.

I think they will pick the perfect girl to play Renesemee although I'm not quite sure who it would be.

I started Memoirs of Geisha today and I am on chapter 12. I haven't been able to put the book down and right after I reply I'm going to go right back to it. It really is great. I'm at the part where Mother has decided to let Mameha take on Chiyo as he younger sister. So I'm anxious to see what happens next :]

Hey Hermee :]
I just finished Ptolemy's Gate and I actually thought that it was pretty good at the end. It took a while to build up, but towards the end I couldn't stop. So, if you have read it i thought the ending was very sad and if you haven't read it yet, you should.
Now I'm readin Suite Scarlett which was reccomended to me by one of my friends so I don't know if it's going to be good. I'll let you know. Then I'm going to read Memoirs of Geisha and then Graceling. Also, let me know when you get ahold of Graceling. So that we can discuss it.

I saw the Twilight movie :]
And although I think it was really rushed.
I thought the actors did a great job and overall
with the budget they were on it was pretty good.
What did you think?

FYI we are using LibraryThing to support a Y10 (4th form) reading scheme which we call Read Around the World - known as Y10 RAW! - which as you would understand is a pun on the KGV logo (a lion!). For Y10 RAW! we have tagged books according to their setting or the author's home country. The purpose of the scheme is to widen students' reading, in preparation for the 11 texts they will read as part of the IB (Interanational Baccalaureat) diploma, which has replaced A levels at KGV.

I'm going to pick up Graceling on monday.
Yeah I re-read books all the time just for the funny parts
Like in Breaking Dawn when Emmett was saying all that stuff about Edward and Bella not knocking down any cottages and when Jacob and Rosalie were going at it and Jake threw the dog bowl at her head and Rose goes..."You. Got. Food. In. My. Hair." that was hilarious :] And i usually re-read all the scenes with my favorite characters..(like Alice Cullen)

Yeah, last year I read the first two in The Bartimaeus Trilogy and just now got to the third because I didn't really like the second one.

Also I picked up Memoirs of Geisha and Suite Scarlett today at the library.
So those are the next two on my list. Then I can read Graceling.

After I read all of those I have to re-read Breaking Dawn again because I have to do an English project on my favorite book. Which I think is going to be really fun :]

Yes, I really enjoy fantasy more than anything. I also like a good romance or mystery.
I really enjoy the classics and books based in the late 1800's and early 1900's.
I also saw that you have Percy Jackson and The Olympians.

My mom just ordered me some books form the scholastic book order thing we get from school. There was a really good looking book in there. It is called The Bar Code Tattoo. It sounds kind of like the Uglies series.

Here is the summary- It's 2025, and the thing to do on your 17th birthday is to get a bar code tattoo, which is used for everything from driver's licenses to shopping. Kayla, almost 17, resists because she hates the idea of being labeled. Then the tattoos begin to drive people to commit suicide, Kayla's father among them, and she soon finds out that the markings contain detailed information about their bearers, including their genetic code. When the government, controlled by a corporation called Global-1, makes the tattoo mandatory, Kayla joins a teen resistance movement and falls for a gorgeous guy, unaware that he's a double agent. She discovers she has some psychic ability and has confusing visions of future events. Forced to run away after being implicated in her mother's accidental death, she eventually joins other resisters hiding in the Adirondack Mountains, finds romance with an old friend, and learns to harness her psychic powers to fight Global-1 and fulfill her visions.

Haha wow you must have a lot of books! Ya I've tagged all of my books with at least "have read" or "want to read", but I try not to spend so much time on tagging the genres. But ya that sounds good that we can discuss the books we have read, and maybe we can even read books together if we have the same "must read"/"want to read". I already see a few that are the same that we could read.
