Sobre a minha bibliotecaAfter I read a book I often pass it on through bookmooch.com or donate to school library, etc. but keep the book listed on librarything.com. With the new Collections feature, I am now listing some books I have read but do not own so I can write a review.

I thought War and Peace was a great book. My only criticism is that I found the ending a bit of a let down. Everyone who was left got a happy ending that seemed a bit contrived. I will have to read it again in a couple of years. The Road to Disunion is very good and quite a different take on the causes of the war. My favorite book on that period is The Impending Crisis by David Potter. It is one of the best history books I have read. Potter uses primary sources to paint the picture of what happened and also provides analysis what alternatives were presented by the situation and why people made the choices they did. Potter also makes a point of writing the history as the people of the time saw it and not as we see it now. If you find that period interesting I would highly recommend it. Although I am sure you are on to a different period with your class. If you have the time I would be interested to know what it is like to teach history. If I were independently wealthy it is something I would like to do, but only the teaching. My mother taught at Miami-Dade Junior College for 35 years and her stories of dealing with the administration were not pleasant. If you have the time and energy drop me a line.

I have read the first trilogy and if I could find the second set locally I'd pick them up too. The next time I order books I'll be including the second trillogy. The books are on my read again list, and have joined my growing collection of do not give away books. (which according to my other half I have way to many of) Could keep me posted on what you think of them?
I would think that it could be a really good book for discussion because it questions what exactly is meant by 'alive'. Hope that helps a little.

I am sitting on a nice comfy couch still reading Bleak House. This book is long! So, I haven't posted for a while on the 50 Book Challenge page. But I love to the titles of what everyone else is reading. I hope to reach my goal before too much longer. Take care and happy reading!

We are a group of students from DePaul University trying to collect books for children in grades one through eight. Even if you can send us just one book it will be appreciated. The books will be sent to an organization called Chicago Lights. (Chicagolights.org).
This organization distributes the books to kids in Cabrini-Green summer programs, homeless shelters, and Juvenile Detention Centers.
If you have any books please send them to the following address:
Group 1
990 West Fullerton
Attention - CDeBose, Sociology
Chicago, IL 60614
Thank you in advance!
